Textbooks: Goldstein, E. B. (1999). Sensation & Perception, 5th ed. CA: Brooks/Cole Publishing Co., ITP.
Course Objectives: This course will cover: the methods used by perceptual scientists for exploring how the brain and nervous system process environmental information; present concepts about how the brain and sense organs connect; and critical experiments that have led us to our current conclusions.
Lab Reports: You are responsible for completing four short lab reports. You must submit these by the end of April in order to get full credit. Each report will be worth 10% of your grade. Together the reports can contribute to 40% of your final grade.
Presentation: Groups will select one problem, and contrast historical and current approaches to that problem. They will present their findings in fifteen minutes to the class, on the last day of class. (10% of your grade)
Quizzes: There will be five quizzes. (50% of your grade)
Extra Credit: Extra credit may be earned during every class period, and is strongly encouraged.
Grades: A = 95%, A- = 90%, B+ = 87%, B = 85%, B- 0 80%, etc.
